17 Sustainable Development Goals in the context of Tajikistan
In September of 2015 170 leaders from across the globe gathered at the UN Summit on Sustainable Development Goals in New York for the adoption of Agenda until 2030. The new agenda includes 17 goals in the area of sustainable development (SDGs) and 167 tasks. Sustainable Development Goals will be a comprehensive program that will guide global and national actions in the next 15 years.
In this regard, the Public Organization "Nasli Nav" and MCF "MicroInvest" as members of the Adult Education Association of Tajikistan (AEAT) in cooperation with the Advisory Council of the Public associations in Sughd region held a round table on the theme "17 Sustainable Development goals until 2030" on the 2nd of June this year. The purpose of the roundtable was to raise awareness of state structures and public organizations and the involvement of stakeholders to join efforts to achieve the SDGs at the local level.
The agenda of the round table was intense and the event was attended by over 30 people from among the representatives of government agencies, the media, public and international organizations. During the event, the participants got acquainted with the presentation on the theme "Sustainable Development Goals until 2030 in the field of education in the context of Tajikistan" and discussed current problems in the country's education. As a result of group work there were identified the main problems in education and solutions to these problems.
Participants of the round table gave positive acclaims to this event and stressed that such kind of events should be conducted regularly and on a large scale in the country, as they contribute not only to awareness- raising, but also allow seeing the opportunities for effective interaction between different stakeholders and enhanced cooperation to achieve the SDGs at the local level.
